 WELCOME TO OUR PACK WEBSITE!

If you are a child in kindergarten through fifth grade, then Cub Scouts is for you. It's for your family too and we would love to have you with us.

Cub Scout Pack 490 was founded in 2012 serving children in the south Charlotte and Matthews areas.  We are part of the Mecklenburg County Council, Etowah District and are chartered by St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church.  Our pack number is a reference to the the famous Battle of Marathon that occurred in 490 BC.  The battle is considered significant because the defeat of the Persians here preserved a democratic way of life in Ancient Greece.

Our Cub Scout Den Meetings are held on Sundays at 3:30 PM, with Pack Meetings held the first Sunday of each month. Meetings are held at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church on the lower level of the Spiritual Life Center. The address is 5108 Kuykendall Road, Charlotte, NC 28270.

Our goal is to prepare our youth for life by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law and supporting the four aims of scouting in a fun and safe environment.  These four aims are citizenship, character, personal fitness and leadership. This is accomplished through:  living the ideals, belonging to a den, advancement, family involvement, activities, serving the community, and the uniform.

All leaders are required to complete training to insure proper knowledge and maintenance of a safe environment at all meetings and events. Additionally, our leaders are encouraged to attend regular Scout training events and monthly round tables to increase their breadth and depth of Scouting knowledge.
